You had the wedding, opened the presents, went on a honeymoon, and came back to reality. Then what? No matter what stage you’re in, engaged, newlywed, or 15 years into marriage, it’s essential to spend time with each other without other friends, kids, or coworkers. So here are our five favorite date nights that we always enjoy and look forward to.
I know, I know. We’re not in high school anymore. But after a long day from work, running errands, and raising kids, we love going to the movie theater. You get to sit down (or lay down) and relax. Some might say that you don’t get to have a conversation during a movie, but I think at this point in the relationship, it won’t make a difference. The point is to spend time together. I don’t know about you, but when we watch a movie, I won’t shut up about it the second it’s over.
Now and then, we like to go back and redo our first date. For us, it was simple. We met up for coffee. Scratch that. He picked me up! We chatted for about an hour or two then went to dinner. The funny part is that we weren’t alone for that first dinner date (I’ll share the story on another post if you’d like), but now we go alone!
We love Topgolf! I will be the first to admit that I am not good at golfing at all. But it is also part of the fun! It’s something we don’t do very often, and we get a few laughs from it.
We both enjoy watching sports. We are big UArizona fans and now, and then we treat ourselves and watch a game. We used to go all the time, but now we decided to make it unique and turn it into date night.
Yes, you are right. I don’t like hiking! But recently I have been enjoying the short(ish) hikes we’ve taken to photograph proposals. Although they aren’t actual dates, we decided to start giving them a try. My husband is well aware that I’m not the biggest fan, but I also know that it is something he enjoys. You never know, maybe I become an avid hiker!
