Today we have a very special creative partner here! Jessica is the magic behind "J. Robertson Events" and she is a wedding and event planner located in Southern Arizona! I have no clue how we found eachother, but I am so glad we did. Following Jessica on Instagram is such a treat. From behind the scenes, to beautiful floral arrangements and table settings, you can certainly tell Jessica pours her heart into every event.
When Jessica and I got to chatting we realized we have a lot in common. In fact, we have have so much in common that we recently discovered we are neighbors! Not 10 minutes down the rode, neighbors. Literally, same community, one street away from each other, neighbors! Crazy, right?!
If you like to party and are looking for a full design event/wedding planner, month of coordinator, or anything in between, you just found the planner for you!
Q: What kind of services do you provide for clients?
A: I offer everything from Full Design, Planning and Coordination to Partial Planning and Coordination to Month of Coordination and everything in between. While I do have specific packages set up to make it easy to distinguish what my clients may need, we can definitely create something custom.
Q: Is there a type of couple you love working with most?
A: I look forward to exemplifying my talents with any and everyone who likes to party! Events are so special no matter what kind, no matter what the budget, no matter how big or small and I just want to help my clients enjoy the end result as much as the creative process along the way.
Q: How did you get started as an entrepreneur? When did you realize you were passionate about event planning?
A: Entrepreneurial work is fairly new to me, while event planning is definitely not. I have a lot of experience in the Hotel/Hospitality Industry with a strict focus on events from many different departments. I knew that I was in love with events and event planning in High School when my roles in Student Council throughout the years had me planning and executing every school function under the sun. From there I took some time off from involvement while I attended the University of Arizona, but quickly realized how much I missed the rollercoaster ride of working hard and watching your creation come to life before your very eyes. It wasn't until after I graduated from the University that I took action in my career path and started climbing the ladder into the hotel sales and events positions at multiple properties between PHX/Scottsdale and Tucson. Not a day goes by that I regret all of the long hours put in to get me the experience, knowledge, and drive that I have now.
“Events are so special, no matter how big or how small...”
Q: Is there a story behind your business name or logo?
A: I like to think of my business name as a "more professional" take on a nickname that I acquired after getting married. As you can imagine, I've never been the only Jessica in a classroom, workplace, etc. So my close friends and colleagues started to call me "JRob" and it totally stuck. When I was exploring business names I wanted something that was personable but also professional and "J. Robertson Events" just kind of checked all of the boxes.
Q: Do you have a team? If so, introduce them - including yourself! If not, share a little bit about you and your favorite things!
A: Aside from owning my own business I am also a wife to an insanely supportive husband, Shane - seriously, I am so grateful for him, as well as a mom to our super fun 5-year-old son, Cayden! As a family, we love to enjoy outdoor activities (when it's not a million degrees outside) with our dogs, Bruce and Libby. When I'm not working I truly enjoy spending quality time with my family the most. We love hosting friends and family at our home over, you guessed it - TONS OF FOOD, and can never pass up an ice cream date or a good movie night on the couch.
Currently, my "team" consists of myself full time and my amazing husband on the weekends for the heavy lifting. I'm sure as things progress I am going to need more hands and I cannot wait to add them!
A: I have been involved in a lot of non-profit fundraiser events which are always so fun because you're working for a cause, but the one event that sticks out in my mind is one of my very first weddings. The bride and groom were actually heartbroken that the venue was under construction longer than they had been promised and that certain spaces would actually not be finished for their big day. It was the problem solving that went into that event that made it so amazing. The end result of watching every hurdle that you have crossed makes it all worth it. I like to say that event planners/managers are insane in the sense that we like to put ourselves through crazy high stress and then when our event finishes we are happy, but also like "now what". It's a rollercoaster that only some can survive.
Q: Where do you see your business in 5 years? What are you most excited about for the future of your business?
A: In 5 years I see J. Robertson Events being Arizona's preferred luxury wedding and event planning company. I can't wait to expand past Tucson events and have an opportunity to travel throughout the state (and maybe even farther) to make my client's dreams come true. I am most excited to look back on how far I have come.
A: I want to share with potential clients that I am not JUST a wedding planner. I have years and years of experience with non-profit fundraiser galas, quinceaneras, sweet 16s, etc. and they are all just as important.
Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
A: Oh man, this is so hard. Do you even realize how much I love FOOD?! Gosh, if I absolutely had to choose just one thing it would probably be Chicken Mimosa from my favorite restaurant in town, Vero Amore. It's my go-to for every single birthday dinner - seriously I never stray. If you haven't tried it yet, 10/10 recommend. 🙂

Q: Where can people follow you to learn more?
A: My website is a great place to get a feel for who I am, what I bring to the table, and to get an initial feel for if we are a good fit. I highly encourage potential clients to check it out at jrobertsonevents.com. I'm also a huge Instagram lover and try to keep consistent content on that platform as well, whether it be tips and tricks, inspirational quotes, or just pretty pictures to inspire your planning journey. You can follow me there as well as on Facebook and Pinterest at @jrobertsonevents.
